Actually reading this persons post, its not that far off from the first question people ask going into business for them self. What you are paid by others is built into this countries job market. Min. Wage $6.50/hr. (I think). There are ref books on what professions make (special MDs 1 mill plus per year), work for a company and everyone will want to know if someone else doing their job is getting the same pay. Having been on other boards like this, this question comes up often. Kinda goes like this: I’m tired of working for others, I’m tired of making poor pay while the owner does nothing I’m working my tail off! I want to start my own business and have never done it. How much do I charge and how much do I make? With the Internet and boards like this, there are going to be many people looking for a better life and looking to see if the grass is greener on the other side.
I do find there are owners here that have done well and are kind enough to mentor and give basic advise. Especially about the unseen problems that go with running a business. As people search, question, research, there may be others that go into the food industry on their own. Maybe in the future when they are doing well they will remember those that helped them and will be happy to do the same and mentor others. Sometimes (when things aren’t going well that day), I think many people that have done well get caught up in their money and forget to give back and mentor.
These boards are easy and important opportunities to advise. I have had a crazy life and even now, being broke as ***, and disabled, and laughing at years and years and years of college education, it makes me feel good if just one thing I wrote has made someone elses life a little bit better. Best wishes on a future business and keep in mind that the stupidest question is the one you keep to yourself and don’t ask. Knowledge is suppose to be empowering, though at todays college prices, a bit too expensive! [;)]
