I can’t imagine going from NOLA to B’ham and going thru Jackson. I-59 thru Hattiesburg , Meridian, and Tuscaloosa is almost a straight shot.
Something not mentioned on this thread yet is catfish and hushpuppies. There are several "fish camps" near Meridian. The best IMO is LONG"S in Enterprise, MS, just south of Meridian.
