A sad, sad day in Pittsburgh. It is the top story in the newspapers and the lead story on the newscasts. In a city that worships its sports heroes, he was every bit as beloved as any athlete. Although he was best known for his colorful catchphrases and being the inventor of the Terrible Towel, he was so much more. Before becoming a Steeler colorman for an unprecedented 35 years, he was one of the top freelance journalists in the country and a frequent contributor to Sports Illustrated. He was also well known for all the wonderful charity work he did in the area.

I have so many fond memories of listening to his broadcasts and radio talk show as a kid. He will truly be missed.
