Hancock is a great midpoint place to stop. Weaver’s is a wonderful bakery and restaurant, and their raisin-filled cookies are a treat. It’s a wonderful old-timey cookie. I ran across a recipe for those in my mother-in-law’s house in Clarksburg, WV.

Park’n’Dine is a classic place to stop as well. Good basic food, wonderful service, good coffee. Nice pies, too.

Stop at one of the apple warehouses on the way out to the interstate. When local apples are in season, you can pick up some beauties such as Mountaineer apples. There is a general store in the back of Hepner’s with all sorts of baked goods, jams, preserves, sauces and souvenirs.
