must try cupboard cafe- sounds good. karen’s kitchen has gone way downhill- used to be pretty fabulous for breakfast (the big everything skillet scramble things were great) but since the move to the site of the old miss wisscasset diner the place has gone downhill in quality and service (imho). and someone’s got to try ship’s chowhall (in the former karen’s kitchen spot near sea basket)- i don’t have the guts to try it, but with maine you just never know. my wife grew up in alna, right down the road from red’s eats in wiscasset. i completely understand your proximity to moody’s needs- i’m of the opinion that a. there’s nothing wrong with eating breakfast, lunch, AND dinner at moody’s on the same day and b. if you are driving by moody’s you MUST stop no matter what and at least order a grilled cheese with bacon and a piece of pie (and probably a couple of those homemade cake donuts) and a whoopie pie for the kid. a hot opened turkey sammich with mashed would in no way be out of the question either. so to recap, i am SO needing a moody’s diner dinner right now, stuck in brooklyn ny eating pizza (which you can’t really get in maine). i always bring a few new haven (or now fairfield pepe’s right off 95) pies up to maine with me, but that’s another roadfood tale… enjoy fb
