Your Lettuce Sandwich reminds me of an experience that I had in Budapest a number of years ago. At a Burger King (yes, I know… However, there was nothing else in that neighborhood open at that hour), I ordered the "Vegetarian Whopper". After having been served virtually nothing for several days except very high-fat meals featuring only pork and vegetables cooked in lard, I thought that my arteries would welcome a veggie burger.
I was expecting some kind of veggie or soy burger on the bun, plus the usual garnishes. However, what I received was the usual flabby bun, with only the addition of a small piece of old lettuce, a thin pink slice of something that purported to be tomato, two slivers of onion, and a smear of mayo. In other words, something that weighed only perhaps a gram or so more than just a plain hamburger bun. I returned to the counter, and in my best, most polite fashion, I attempted to point out to the employeess that someone had forgotten to add the veggie burger. I was told that, no, the "Vegetarian Whopper" did not have anything on the bun other than the paltry ingredients that I had been served. This was a hard lesson to learn, but at least I knew what to expect if I ventured into another Burger King in that part of Europe. (And, no, I did not go into another of those joints again!)
I’m sure that your lettuce sandwich contains much more lettuce, of a much higher quality, than what I was served in Budapest!
