The Popeye’s in Lake Geneva is not associated with the cajun fried chicken chain, it is a family owned sit down with the reference to Popeye the sailor. They have a big pit grill along side the building and cook chicken, lamb and pork on long skewers. Their menu ranges from shrimp to ribs to burgers. Our favorite is skordalia which is a greek garlicy appetizer. Popeyes is on Wrigley Drive directly across from the public beach and pier with huge windows and a boathouse atmosphere. Other options are the Grandview on the south lake shore in the Geneva Inn, great views of the lake, Scuttlebutt’s, down the street from Popeye’s , features Swedish food and The Red Geranium which is a steakhouse. On the west end of the Lake in Fontana, The Abbey has a nice restaurant with great lake views and there is Gordy’s Boathouse, also in Fontana. Most of the resorts in the area have decent dining spots such as Lake Lawn Lodge, Interlochen, Geneva Grand and Timber Ridge.
