Paul, you and Buckshot brought back some memories!
I haven’t thought of the Blue Circle in at least 35 years. My dad used to treat me to BC hamburger and fries when I was a kid. We would go to the wood veneer manufacturer in Knoxville to get throw away slabs of mahogany, black walnut, cherry, birds eye maple etc. and dad would make the most beautiful furniture from it. On the way home, dad would always stop by the BC as a reward for me not getting crushed/killed/maimed by the heavy equipment[;)]
All the Scottie’s Burgers and Scottish Inns buildings were pre-fab’ed in Kingston, TN. There was a Scottie’s just across Hwy 27 from our High School. We would sneak over there and get what we called "Gut Bombs", the little 14c hamburgers. My parents gave me 75 cents a day when I was in High School. I had to eat, buy gas, and cigarettes with that amount. Cigs cost 40c a pack, gut bomb was 15c with tax, that left 20c for gas. I coasted a lot.
Krystals give me such terrible indigestion I just cant eat them. I love ’em though.
