BTW – I Like Ike!
I’m glad you wrote that! I forgot I bought an “I Like Ike” magnet that looks like the classic pin. It’s been sitting in my work bag. I just took it out and attached it to my desk.
On Ike and cooking, I remember reading in a book on him that he liked cooking. The incident they mentioned was a weekend with close friends at a cabin during his presidency. He insisted that everyone stay out of the kitchen while he fixed breakfast for the entire crew.
That was my last burger and malt meal on the trip. While I enjoyed being able to eat Midwestern, smashed burgers for a few days, I can’t say any of the burgers I had rose to the level of greatness. For comparison sake, I would say the best burger I’ve ever had on a vacation was the double cheeseburger I ate at Carl’s Drive-In, just outside of St. Louis. That was also the smashed variety, but it was done much better than any of the four burgers I ate on this trip.
