This was really fascinating. Unfortunately, I don’t think this type of situation is restricted to JFK. It probably happens at the dozen or so mega airports around the world.

At one time I considered a career as an air traffic controller. Transport Canada was hiring/training big time. Now, I think "What were you thinking?!!!!!! You could not pay me ENOUGH to be an ATC.
