Just a few: Henry’s, west of Columbus in West Jefferson, Ohio. It’s on U.S. 40, just south of Interstate 70. Good country cooking, and terrific pies. Then there’s Clark’s Dining room on the east side of Columbus, just a jog north of Interstate 70, also on U.S. 40. Clark’s is the place for fantastic fried chicken, all done in cast iron skillets. Right in Columbus, German Village to be specific, and right off I-70, is Schmidt’s Sausage Haus und Restaurant. Try the Bahama Mama, a spicy bratwurst. And the pasteries are murder — but good murder. Not far from Jacksontown on I-70 there’s a Flying J Truck Stop with really good food.
