Thanks, BT for detailed reply and photo. I’m feeling well-stocked with destinations. Should be a great tasting trip. Interesting you mention The Palace Hotel. In choosing a hotel for this trip I boiled down my options to The Palace and the Mark Hopkins, each of which has a special rate deal with my company. Read the histories of both, as well as opinions on TripAdvisor, Frommers, etc. For a variety of reasons, I chose the Mark Hopkins, but I will visit The Palace for tea, snack, drink, etc.
