Katz’s, Papaya King, and Cafe Edison are among my most cherished eating memories of my trip last November. If you want BBQ, skip Virgil’s and go to Spanky’s; the sides are better. And go to Bryant Park, sit on the terrace overlooking the skating rink and eat dessert.
During my vacation, I came down with the flu so I also ate a lot of soup on that trip. Cafe Edison’s Matzoh soup was excellent, as was the Chicken Mole Poblano at Hale & Hearty soups (one at the Chelsea Market, one on West 49th).
Not really an extraordinary meal, but my happiest memory was eating an ice cream sandwich on a bench on the Bethesda Terrace in Central Park, overlooking the angel statue.
