I feel the same way you do…American cheese, whether yellow, orange, wrapped in plastic, sliced from a block in the deli…it doesn’t matter if it is Kraft singles or the higher priced deli counter stuff…it all tastes like a sticky, gummy mass to me. I cannot eat the stuff.
But as for any other cheese, bring it on! For me, the riper, the better! I miss the raw milk cheeses that I ate in France, that we can’t import in this country, due to health regs. Incredibly powerful tastes…pretty indescribable.
Cheese, like everything else, I guess, is to each his or her own, in terms of taste.
