Sahlen’s which is produced in Buffalo, NY changed their formula around 3 years ago. Unfortunately, they cheapened up their hot dog so they could sell retail packs in the grocery stores. The best hot dog going today in WNY area is Wardynski’s. Here is their site:

I have had Nathan’s and found them very disappointing on the grill. Also had Best’s and found them just OK. Another good hot dog is Frey’s in the Buffalo area. Also, Zwiegle’s from Rochester, NY puts out an outstanding "Red Hot" and is the official hot dog of "The Buffalo Bills" at their stadium concession stands.
I have heard good things about the hot dogs in the Chicago area and would like to give them a try the next time I am in that area.
