When I lived in France, shopping twice a day was a must! Serve the same baguette you bought in the morning for lunch at the evening meal??? Quelle horreur! The meat or fish, vegetables and bread were bought twice daily. Milk, butter, heavy cream and chickens were a walk or a bike ride down the road to one of the surrounding farms. Of course, that was in the 70’s and there were no Costcos or WalMarts. Somehow, the food tasted better and fresher.
