Pink slime is out of the news, isn’t it?
I have a higher level of trust for factory prepared food than many RFers (Church and social club buffets on the other hand, scare me!), but as far as taste goes, I’m sure that home ground is far better. To me, though, its not worth the work. I usually need just one burger at a time, and frozen is easier.
A local mini chain grinds their own. I have not posted their name, because quality has been variable. Maybe after I try them one more time……………
Pink slime has been out of the news for the past few years. But BPI reopened one of their shuttered plant in mid 2014 and may have reopened another plant late 2014 or early 2015. The ‘finely textured beef'(aka: pink slime) being produced is going somewhere. So look at beef package labels for ‘finely texture beef’ as an additive.
