I can just see my coworkers here in Rhode Island saying in complete amazement "There are Italian people in Wisconsin????" Most Rhode Islanders insist that Italian food in Rhode Island with the exception of the NYC area is second to none!
Suprise! Suprise! Twenty-five years ago, approximately 60% of the Kenosha population (80,000) was Italian. A large portion were first generation. The distance between Chicago and Milwaukee is getting closer with more construction along the I94 corridor. Chicagoans who escaped to Wisconsin for vacations are now moving here. The population of southeastern Wisconsin, not including Milwaukee, is projected to increase 1.3 million during the next 20+ years. Want to really amaze your friends? Wisconsin’s U.S. senators, Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl are both Jewish.
