Customers drive from Chicago and Milwaukee to experience possibly one of the finest Italian delis in the U.S.

I can just see my coworkers here in Rhode Island saying in complete amazement "There are Italian people in Wisconsin????" Most Rhode Islanders insist that Italian food in Rhode Island with the exception of the NYC area is second to none!

Want to really amaze your friends? Wisconsin’s U.S. senators, Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl are both Jewish.

This will amaze my New York contingency, but not the Rhode Island contingency. May Rhode Islanders think that we have a "huge" Jewish population here. Well surprise surprise, only one in 75 people in metro Providence is Jewish. We have no kosher or kosher style deli’s. The only kosher bakery just went out of business. And one of the biggest bagel shops, Barneys, just closed it’s doors in Cranston. Their Pawtucket location is still open. New Yorkers on the other hand believe that everyone outside the NYC metro area is white anglo saxon protestant. I must mention some of these quotes by my fellow New Yorkers and Rhode Islanders

NY Quotes:

1."Rhode Island has a large Italian Population? I thought it would be more Kennedyesque"

2. "I’ve never seen so many Irish Faces in Philly"

RI Quotes:

1. "Good Italian food in St. Louis?? I can imagine a good steak, but good Italian??"

2. (My favorite) "What part of the South are you from?" A question I always get asked because of my "alleged" Southern Accent. Mind you I have the classic Long Island Accent. It’s not overly thick but it is definetly prevelant.

Interestingly enough when I was in Seattle everyone there thought anyone and everyone east of the Rockies was Italian!
