In my hometown, when 7-11 pulled out, Convenient Stores moved in. They were the big thing. I think what hurt them, was places like A-Plus and other gas station convenient stores that provided both the convenient store and the gas. Other Central NY convenience stores/mini-marts included Red Apple, Byrne Dairy, and Wilson Farms to name a few.
Here in DC, there’s 7-11. There are some mom and pop sotres here and there, but 7-11 rules as far as chain stores. The closest Sheetz, which is definately a big step up from 7-11, is in Dale City and Manassas Park, VA – more than 25 miles away. Which in DC, is well over an hour drive. I like Sheetz, but not that much.
