Kyle Carver’s Orchard is a really neat place. [8D] I know you all sing the praises of Calhoun’s but I don’t think it’s that great. To me it just tastes like chain restaurant food. I will admit that the TN river location is a neat place to go to but for really good food, I look elsewhere.
The Front Porch in Cosby is a great place. Really good Mexican food and bluegrass on the weekend. This info is from the Metropulse:
The Front Porch
2912 Hwy. 321 (Cosby) * 487-2875
Excellent Mexican food in one of the most beautiful areas of Tennessee. You can eat enchiladas, tamales and super-creamy refried beans while listening to fine bluegrass picking. The guacamole alone is worth the drive. Live music Fri.-Sun. starting at 8pm.
Fri. & Sat. noon- close (whenever the crowd clears out), Sun. noon-9pm. $7-$12. BYOB
I try to stay out of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Way too touristy and crowded for me. My ideal Smokies meal is grilling trout I just caught out of the Little River. That’s good eating! [:D]
