Well, that’s life in these United States. Everything has a price and an effective FDA would be very expensive. Major sacrifices would have to occur to afford it. Is anyone really ready to give up corporate welfare? Tax cuts for the rich? Wars for greed rather than necessity? All these family value things would have to go. Who would want that? It all does trickle down, after all.
Unfortunately, it seems to be trickling down on our food.

No political party or politician is really to blame for our current priorities. We are Americans and get the government we elect. If we don’t like it we have only ourselves to blame.
