Maximus Super…………..Strong stuff! Wasn’t it a malt liquor?
Haven’t seen it in years. It was made by the FX Matt brewery
in Utica NY . Home of Utica Club They now brew a bunch of
Saranac brands for the central NY area.

WOW! There’s an old memory. Maximus Super was the "Jolt Cola" of beers. Aggressively marketed as having twice the alcohol of other beers. It was designed to hit the 18-21 market back in the days when 18 was legal age. Although I still think that if you’re old enough to take a bullet in Iraq you’re old enough to take a drink..but I digress..The product actually wound up on one of the "Point-Counterpoint" debates on CBS’s 60 Minutes. It tasted like coal tar but would give you a serious, serious buzz. It was made from around 1971-1975. Ahhh..the good old days!
