We tried the Billy Beer that was manufactured (rather than brewed!!) at the Falls City Company in Louisville. It was selling with the ABC or Red White and Blue Beer in the cheapie ice tubs in our 7-11’s For awhile, before the cult following developed, you could get it for a Buck a 6-pack. It was not good beer…(understatement of the day!)
Paul- Pepsi put out a new logo and coloring scheme in 1989 (see the photo) Basic Black background with the neon tubing graphics. They claimed the graphics were a random art design to exploit the ‘color contrast’ of the ‘Modern Art-Deco’ Theme. However the delivery drivers in our area in SoCal received instructions to stack the 6 packs on the shelves in the stores so that the graphics would spell S E X in the vertical mode…see the line up on the side of the cans in the photos. Several consumer groups took issue with the subliminal approach to marketing and Pepsi soon removed the cans form the shelves (about 6 months). I bought(and saved) a 6 pack and a spare can to show how the alignment worked.
