Do you know of any decent eatery in Arcadia that isn’t a chain or else a beer joint that just happens to serve food? Surely there’s a good country-style place in those parts… or incredible homemade Mexican food.
I don’t really eat anywhere in Arcadia except at my Aunt’s house. She’s an amazing cook. She grew up on a farm in Ohio. On the rare occasion she’s not making something homemade, my cousins and I will wind up at Burger King[xx(] or grabbing BBQ[:p].
There are 3 BBQ places in Arcadia that I know of. All are excellent. Bullz Eye Bbq– on 17 near 70. Slim’s– on 17. And also on 17 there is a guy that sells BBQ out of a beat up trailer, sorry I don’t know the name, but he’s only open a few days a week and only for lunch. He probably has the best BBQ. He’s on 17 headed out of Arcadia towards Nocatee.
For Mexican food in Arcadia, beleive it or not, the gas stations usually have really good homemade food. I don’t think I actually have eaten in a Mexican restaurant in Arcadia. If I did, I don’t remember. I’ve been going to Arcadia since I was a kid.
Out of Arcadia, these are the restaurants we go to.
Capt’n Fishbones– At the shell factory in north Fort Myers on 41. We go here quite a bit for lunch. Their fried fish baskets are fantastic! If you haven’t been to the shell factory, it’s quite a site to see. Don’t miss the Waltzing Waters show. Buy some fudge to snack on at the show. Oh, and don’t forget to stop at the dollar store before you go to the shell factory to pick up a bag of dry cat food to feed the turtles there. It beats trying to find quarters for several kids for a small handful of turtle food. The ducks will also eat the cat food directly out of your hand.

At the mall in Port Charlotte there is a Greek place in the food court that, to me has awesome authentic Greek food.
Also in Port Charlotte Mel’s diner, is pretty good for standard diner fare.
The Fishermen’s Village in Punta Gorda is a touristy place but they have a few good seafood restaurants. It’s also really pretty and there’s shopping in the cute boutiques there.

Pies & Plates– on 41 in Punta Gorda is a great place to grab a sweet snack. Try the Punta Gorda Sand Bar, it’s a blonde brownie that is really good! It’s definetley for those who have a sweet tooth! They also have a restaurant, bakery, gelato, gourmet foods and gadgets and gifts for the kitchen. This is probably my favorite place to go on the west coast and I try to go there every time I’m over that way. It’s a great place for a Foodie![:)]
