Slumgullion was a Irish/English pesant dish, much like a stone soup.
Typically made with beef or other meat scraps, but depending on the area it could also be made with fish scraps. My grandmother made it both ways, whatever was available. She always put stale bread or biscuits in the bottom of the bowl, a trick left over from the depression era.
I haven’t had it in years, I’ve got a lot of assorted fish in the freezer that has passed it’s shelf life or pretty close. Might just have to conger up a pot over the weekend. Chow Jim
