I have been looking at some shooting posts on YouTube. One that I noticed is a guy bitching about Winchester Super X .22 ammo. He calls it the worst. I never noticed, as I do most of my shooting with an utterly reliable, older, bolt action, .22 Remington. He demonstrated several different brands in a Ruger .22 semi automatic pistol, just like the one I bought a month or so ago. I posted how happy I am with the little Ruger, but I have only shot CCI rounds in it, mostly because I like the packaging. The bitcher posted that he didn’t even try the CCI rounds, because “everybody knows” how reliable they are. His Winchester rounds jammed every time, while every other tested round cycled the Ruger perfectly, including some cheapy bulk packed Remingtons.
I was happy to score a 333 pak of Winchester rounds recently. I got them at a good price, $15.99, but I guess that I didn’t get the deal that I thought that I did. Maybe I’ll try a few in the semi auto pistol, but I expect that I’ll be burning most of them in the bolt action rifle. I’ll be keeping my eyes open for a 100 pak of the CCI, and I’ll buy them when I see them.
