I had a trade deal ‘sneak up’ on me yesterday. I came across a local listing for a Marlin lever action Guide Gun in .450 Marlin caliber. That’s one step up from the 45-70 Govt. cartridge that was the mainstay of large game hunting in the USA some years ago. Well after some discussion I parted with a Taurus Model 44 SS 44 magnum revolver with a box of 50 rounds of ammo in trade for the rifle, with a good 3x9x40mm scope mounted on “see-thru” rings, and a wide-strap sling, and a box of Hornaday Ammo.

The rifle is in fine condition, with an 18.5″ ported barrel and walnut stock. Since I still have two 44 handguns and the Ruger 44 mag bolt action carbine, I didn’t feel the loss of the relvolver too much.

Here is my new (to me) BROWN BEAR GUN..AND THE AMMO FOR IT.
