See, that’s part of the appeal of that album to me. I agree that Bruce Springsteen’s strength is his writing but it was really cool for him to pay tribute to Seeger and really wear the traditional/folk/protest influence on his sleeve. I think that Bruce’s own "American Skin (41 Shots) is one of the really great protest songs of the last few years.

Plus it’s so rare, at least for me. to hear Bruce cover anything. "Fire" is a cover, I believe, but other than that, I can’t think of anything.

I agree on 41 shots…a powerful song. I do appreciate the salute to Seeger, and appreciate Seeger’s work…just didn’t do much for me.
