Instead of paying big $$$ for the "gourmet" hot sauces, sometimes I try sauces that I see on the shelf and have never heard of. It’s hit and miss, but fun to explore. I’ve tried some imported table sauces from Mexico (we have well stocked Hispanic food sections where I live) and usually they are pretty decent. Also closeouts are sometimes acceptable. A couple of unknown brands like "El Pato", and "Louisiana Bat Sauce" (both .49), have been pleasant surprises. Often it’s just marketing, distribution, and MARKUP that determines if food item is successful or not.
