Hoo! Many’s the time I added fresh okra to a pot, but it was usually to a pot of of black eyed peas. I like it in peas or gumbo just shy of getting slimey, but can eat a big bowl of it boiled over cornbread. A note, I usually fry my okra in oil a few minutes before adding it to gumbo. This could be done for beans, too, if anyone objects to its slimy properties.
