I used to live walking distance from the original Fairway. In Manhattan, which had a major lack of decent supermarkets, it was a boon. But I live in New Jersey now. In their Paramus store, although the clerks were friendly and knowledgeable, the management had a “You should be kissing the ground we walk on just because we are here” attitude. When you made a complaint, including spoiled and expired food on the shelves, the standard management response is, “Why are you telling US this?” And if you actually buy the spoiled food, no refund. You have to beg just to get a store credit. And, for years, there was no way to contact the central management; if you tried to complain, you would be directed to the a**holes that gave you the problem in the first place. If they are failing, they deserve it.
