Wow…$10 per pound. Here in Connecticut they go for 2-3 per lb at the store. Then again you were eating at a restaraunt. As others said you can use your fingers, or one half of a shell or even use an empty shell (both halves still together) as a tong like contraption to pull the meat from other mussels.
