While in Raleigh, you can’t beat Pam’s Farm House Restaurant at 5111 Western Blvd for a down-home cafe – excellent fried chicken, hush puppies, collards, real mashed potatoes, etc.
As a side note – I’ve noticed Ralph’s BBQ (Weldon) mentioned several times. IMO, it’s about as bad of BBQ I’ve ever had – it’s in the class of what is typically served in New England – really bad.
Parkers (Wilson), Wilber’s Goldsboro), Gardner’s (Rocky Mt) are all far superior.
