I, too, used to turn my boys loose in the "human habitrails" for the same reasons cited by TJ. That practice lost its charm when someone stole my youngest’s shoes from the rack. It’s not that they took the wrong ones, leaving theirs behind. My two guys were the last to leave and there was only 1 pair of shoes!
The victim of the theft survived the trauma of going barefoot to Payless to replace his shoes and has now been on a ten-year quest to find the best chicken fried steak. (so far, it’s The Big Texan in Amarillo)
To answer the original question: No, I endeavour to raise jr. roadfooders. Instilling in them that, when travelling, one never eats at a place one could eat at back home. It is now a competition to see who finds the best place on each trip.
