Over 15 years for me.
Nessie’s comments were right on great advice. Believe me, to have diabetes and be diagnosed is much better than to have it and not know until it’s too late. Getting some education from an expert is the best advice of all. There are many substitutes out there for those carbs but sadly great tasting bread isn’t one of them. My days of making an entire meal of crusty, good tasting bread and ice cold butter or olive oil are over. Just don’t get suckered into buying much of the sugar-free crap. Think lower carbs instead. Read your food labels. I used to work in the Endocrine Center and saw enough non compliant diabetics missing body parts that it scared me into eating better. Treat diabetes as an annoyance and not as something debilitating and you’ll be fine.
