I’m more conscious of what my (grown) kids are eating, of course out of fear that they will inherit it.
My brother’s youngest child (girl-age 13) is in the neighborhood of 100 lbs overweight. I have tried to make suggestions without being preachy but he gets very touchy about the subject. (He is divorced and her mom is not in the picture). Everyone in my extended family thinks I’m the one who can get her motivated to lose weight.[:(] My brother uses food as another form of love. At every birthday: aw, you just gotta have a piece of cake! At Christmas: aw, you just gotta have Christmas Cookies (and fudge, etc. etc.) At the bonfire: aw, you just gotta have S’Mores! Coming up to the lake cabin: aw, you just can’t pass the cheese shop without buying some!
With that influence in the house "the just gotta" attitude, how can I compare? Especially if I only see her every couple of weeks? It’s pathetic! I know I’m not perfect and I don’t claim to be. But if I had that attitude I would be minus a leg or blind by now.
