Denver is filled with decent mexican places. Benny’s is way too crowded for my taste, and the food is no better than a hundred others. Downtown, try D’Corazon, or La Fiesta (open only for lunch). Stuebens is as one reviewer put it, "upscale comfort food" which should be a warning right there. We went a few weeks back, and while the food is not bad, it’s not that great either. Everything is a la cart, and it’s a bit too hipster and trendy for me. Went to Sam’s No.3 over the weekend and had an enjoyable breakfast. I would have to second My Brother’s Bar – nice and atmospheric, and supposedly, a place Neal Cassady used to frequent. And lastly, any Denverite thinking of going way out to Hudson to the Pepper Pod – don’t bother. Food and service both really mediocre.
