Nothing excites my tastebuds quite so much as scraping aspic (Really?  That’s the best name for gel that someone came up with? Sounds like a socially unacceptable bit of grooming!) off of some pressed, canned meat!  On the other hand, my dad and I used to eat fried SPAM sandwiches on white bread with ketchup for lunch on his days off, so I’ve got those memories goin’ for me, which is nice.

I don’t find much of that gel on Spam, unless the unopened can has been kept cold. But I sure do find lots of it on my Vienna sausages. Now, about those fried Spam sandwiches on white bread — I still love them, but with mustard, and topped with some melted American cheese. [:D]

That gel can only be truly loved when the can is opened like this. This is the real American spam that I grew up with. Later in life while cooking it while camping it was perfect for hooking up a stack of pancakes.
