I agree with most of these. And, I do like Pappadeax — well, it is as good as you will get for cajun in Dallas, but it’s not real cajun. I wouldn’t pick it as a place you must try in Dallas, but the food is good.
People may recommend Sonny Bryan’s for BBQ. I would not. Baker’s Ribs is very good, and I love the fresh rolls at Spring Creek BBQ — the BBQ is good, too.
Breakfast is good at La Madeline. They are all over Dallas.
I used to like Sevy’s on Preston near NW Highway, but I have not been in a year or more.
Javier’s has good gourmet Mexican. $$$$
Any of the LaHacienda Ranch locations will provide good TexMex. Excellent TexMex, in fact.
Chicken Fried Steak is a good Dallas meal. Good Eats Cafe used to have a really good one, but there again, I haven’t been in awhile. Order it with mashed potatoes and fried okra for a genuine Texas experience.
Fearing’s in the Ritz Carlton is good for $$$$ dining. The totilla soup is a Dallas icon.
Any location of Mi Cocina is going to be tasty, too.
Where in Dallas are you going to be? This is a big place.
