As far as I understand, a real cuban sandwich does not contain salami…….it consists of swiss cheese, roast (Cuban style) pork sliced very thin, ham, dill pickle and mustard and it must be pressed quite flat. There is not very much meat in the sandwich. A perfect cuban sandwich is quite an art! When I find the right bread, I roast a small pork tenderloin and make cuban sandwiches and use my "Georgie" (George Forman Grill) to press them down They come out perfect everytime!
