Interesting – that bread looks a lot like the Salerno’s bread that I had – also noted as “not the freshest”. I am in agreement with pnwchef – a good sandwich – grinder or not – bread is a critical component. I would disagree though, that CT knows how important a quality roll is; in my neck of the woods (north/central CT), there is a dearth of good bread – it’s mostly soft white bread masquerading as a good grinder roll. I’ve yet to find the “perfect” grinder within a reasonable quick distance to my house – if I go down to Waterbury to some of the Italian delis, or up to Springfield to Frigo’s it works, but I crave a more local neighborhood establishment that does a great sandwich.
