Truth be known I tuned in to see the flyover of F-35’s, an import from the Republic of Texas.
I saw in the paper yesterday that the Air Force is getting the unit cost down to about $100 mil. The Navy/Marine version is more expensive. It is still a lot of money, but it is far better than the cool $1 billion that the program was looking at. For comparison, a new production F18 is about $60 mil. A lot of countries that were not interested, now want to buy it, so it could become a major export for the original partner nations. I expect that the new president will need to make some tough decisions on who to sell to, and who not to sell to.
Seeing Army win, after such a long wait, didn’t bother this Navy fan at all,,,,,,,,,don’t get me wrong, I want Navy to win next year, but, IMO, the men on both teams are the best of our youth, and a few of the Navy men will get to fly the F35.
