I too have traveled all over the country eating chili and I’ve been a NY regional chili judge. I sort of grew up (college days) on Cinnci Chili though I’m not from Cinnci. The stuff is unique and incrediable and if there were a Cinnci. Chili Parlor in NYC I’d be there as often as I could. But, there are none! I’ve thought about opening one here. The stuff is like no other chili I’ve had — even in the way it’s server: one way, two way, … five way (or the famed six way when you’re really hung over and strung out). I have the stuff imported from Kroger.com (cheaper than skyline.com) in a can but it isn’t quite the same — close but no cigar. Also in Cinni. there are a lot of private chili parlors that have secrect recipes handed down from who knows where. One place I ate on Mt. Adams in Cinnci was run by two brothers each having a different part of the recipe and each taking their turn behind locked doors, without the other, to mix up the concoction — the stuff was great. I have even been known to stop by a Cinni chili parlor on the way to "La Maisonette" (Cinncinati’s premiere 4 star French restaurant) for dinner for a plate of this stuff. Find a cheap flight and by all means go to Cinncinati and indulge — I have to on occasion.
Skyline Chili can also be found in cities around Cinninati like Columbus, Louisville, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lexington, etc.
