I remember Kowloon well. My parents would take us to Kowloon, Wan-Q (I think that was either on Pico also or Olympic) and when we trekked over to Chinatown, Grandview Gardens on Hill. I guess that’s part of what I’m looking for now——I eat Chinese food regularly at some great places, but I just want to try a place again with the old-style Cantonese food of my youth. I know where to go for great dimsum and excellent roast duck (hmm, maybe that’s what I’ll treat myself to dinner tonite—–I have a place near me with the ducks hanging in the window). I spent an afternoon calling up places in the L.A. phonebook looking for the pressed duck. I’ve been sorely disappointed.
