You can’t mention The Spot w/o mentioning Big Star. Big Star is only open seasonally & they use Velveeta on their cheeseburgers, I think that’s the only difference between them & The Spot. We used to walk there from the pool to get lunch when we were kids.

That said, The Spot has the best grilled cheese ever. They grill the cheese next to the meat on the grill & put it on a toasted hamburger bun. Yummmmm.

Do you remember Fon-Tan-Blu? Maggy’s Hot Dog Stand? Those were the days. *sigh*

Donna’s Diner in Racine used to rock, haven’t been there in years.
