This is a little beyond Chicago land but many of us in the area take a summer trip to Starved Rock State Park, I have discovered a road food find. On US Rte 6, just north of Utica in a plain old farm house is Ron’s Cajun Connection. The food is awesome and Ron, a real deal cajun, is a great host, chef and a true character! He is only open Thursday-Saturday, 4-9 and on Sunday from 12-6. If you get off I-80 at the Starved Rock exit(Exit#80), Rte. 6 is 2 miles south and he is east a mile. I have been looking for cajun around Chicago, have tried Heaven on Seven and a few others but Ron’s is the best.
