Mathon’s in Waukegan — I believe they’re still open, although it’s been 3 decades since I’ve been there. Used to be famous for their fried perch. Just off the lakefront.
My mother recommends Ray Radigan’s, just across the state line in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sheridan Road.
