Al,
I have looked and looked thru the archives the the papers in the area, and cannot find any mention of the rebuilding of Bowens Island.
I had not seen anything in my local paper, and I read it everyday.
I read in one blog that he hoped to re-open by Oyster season.
Oyster season is closed from Mid May to Mid September in South Carolina.
So.. what ever that means..
I searched every local site I could find from South Carolina, and even went with the owners name..
NADA..Nothing…..
THe only link I could find on it sent me to Hollyeats review. Which has a statement remarking upon its fire.
"Robert Barber" is the owner, and he lost his bid for Lt Gov here in SC. So maybe since the election is long over, they are spending the time now rebuilding.
Thats the best I can do for now. But I will still keep looking.
Reference point for location is James Island.
I guess I might have to take a day trip to see for myself.
I have Sunday off and it looks like good weather.
Not a shabby idea. Take my camera and have a burger at Poe’s Tavern in Sullivans Island as recommended by a Roadfood member last year.
It is a trip that has been delayed since last May.
