Visited this place in mid-April on my 10-day trip to Charleston/Savannah, it was definitely one of the highlights. Much to my chagrin, the week I was there was its last in business…. in this location. As you read this, the Bookstore should now have re-opened in Mount Pleasant a few miles away. I doubt the new location will have the charm of the old, but Charleston is certainly still full of wonderful places to eat.
Still, my favorite memory of the town was the little 1-block area containing the Bookstore, a REAL (and excellent) used bookstore with one of the best collections of (very expensive) art books I’ve ever seen, and a wonderful coffee shop called Kudu which I would probably spend every day in if I lived in the area. Too bad the Bookstore Cafe is no longer part of that little neighborhood…
